Sui quattro lati del basamento Cucchi ha moltiplicato l’immagine del Vesuvio, variandone la prospettiva, ma mantenendone intatto il valore simbolico di potenza distruttrice. L’opera, che riprende i gialli e i grigi tipici del paesaggio urbano napoletano, non possiede tuttavia un’intonazione tragica, ma una leggerezza divertita che ne fa una favola visionaria.

Cucchi reproduced an image of Vesuvius on all four sides of the base, varying the perspectives, but keeping its symbolic meaning of destructive power intact. However, the work - executed in the typical yellows and greys of the Neapolitan landscape - does not have a tragic cast, but a playful lightness reminiscent of a visionary fable.
