Il calco realizzato dall’Accademia di Belle Arti di Napoli riproduce la celebre statua in marmo del II secolo d.C. conservata nel Museo Archeologico Nazionale. L’eroe si appoggia alla clava coperta dalla pelle del leone di Nemea, ucciso nella prima delle dodici fatiche, mentre nella mano destra tiene i tre pomi d’oro rubati dal giardino delle Esperidi.

The cast made by the Naples Academy of Fine Arts is a reproduction of the famous second century marble statue in the National Archaeological Museum. Hercules is leaning on his club, which is draped with the skin of the Nemean lion slain in the first of his twelve labours, while in his right hand he holds the three golden apples that he retrieved from the Garden of the Hesperides.
